Leadership Principle: Being Before Doing

All leaders want to produce results. They want to achieve their goals and take their organization to the next level. But great leaders don’t think of leadership in terms of doing alone. They know that it’s so much more than that.

Leadership is not just something you do; it’s something you are. As leaders, our being must precede our doing. People may admire your results but they will be attracted to who you are. To go to the next level and achieve better results, you must be a more effective leader. To be an effective leader, you must be a better person. To be a better person, you must develop your character and integrity.

Become a better leader by developing your character, and the results will follow.

Great reminder, Eric! We have to focus first on leading self well before we focus on leading others or producing results.

Mark 3:15 – “…be with Him, … send them to do preach.” First BE, then you can DO. That is a powerful leadership philosophy… and there is no other better than it in practicability. Thanks for reminding us of this. In fact, I am giving a talk about the same issue this evening at a University in Kampala Uganda. Blessings to you. deltacu11@gmail.com
