Highly Exalted

Philippians 2:5-11 is believed to have been an ancient hymn sung by the early church. This week we looked at the second half of the passage that shows the upward steps of Jesus’ glorification: it begins with His resurrection, followed by His ascension, culminating when the glory Jesus had with the Father before the world existed is restored to Him. You can see the progression of this text in the diagram below. It shows that Jesus is to be highly exalted.

Jesus highly exalted

The main point Paul is trying to show us is that Jesus is LORD of ALL! That’s the name that every knee will bow to and every tongue confess…Jesus Christ is LORD! Those three words are shorthand for the Gospel. The name Jesus means “savior” and is a declaration of His salvation. His title is Christ means “Messiah” and is a declaration of His atoning sacrifice. And LORD is translated “Adonai or Yahwah” and is the personal name of God in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ is LORD of all! Surrender to Him and follow Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength!

He truly is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.
