The verses were written on the wall of Mother Teresa’s home for children in Calcutta and are widely attributed to her.
“People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
It’s easy to find reasons not to do what’s right.
It goes unnoticed. We get tired. People take advantage of us. Doing right is hard. And the list goes on and on.
Next time you feel like giving up & things get tough, soak in the wisdom and encouragement to do it anyway…
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
